South in the Winter!

Brrr……It’s getting cold! But, we’re still renting RVs! While the North East may not seem like the ideal place to take an RV, you can always take our RVs South in the winter! The winter months are a great time to visit places like Virginia, The Carolinas, Georgia, and more! You get the chance to enjoy more mild weather, typically reduced crowds, and you get to enjoy getting there in one of our RVs. In this post we’ll highlight a few of the “closer” areas to explore!

Williamsburg, Virginia – Historical Holiday:

Williamsburg has a rich history and offers a variety of activities even in the winter months. Here are some things to do in Williamsburg during the winter:

Colonial Williamsburg:

Explore the historic district, which is beautifully decorated during the holiday season. Enjoy costumed interpreters, festive events, and candlelit tours that provide a glimpse into colonial life.

Busch Gardens Christmas Town:

Experience the magic of the holiday season at Busch Gardens, which transforms into a winter wonderland with millions of lights, holiday shows, and festive decorations. Enjoy seasonal treats and the thrilling rides.

Jamestown Settlement:

Learn about the early history of America at Jamestown Settlement. While outdoor activities may be weather-dependent, the indoor museum provides an informative and engaging experience.

Hatteras, NC – Quiet Retreat:

If you’re seeking a quiet and peaceful retreat, winter in Hatteras offers a more laid-back atmosphere. Enjoy the tranquility and the sound of the waves.

Fishing:

Winter is a great time for fishing in Hatteras. Try surf fishing on the beaches or book a charter to go offshore fishing for a chance to catch some winter species.

Hiking and Bird Watching:

Explore the trails in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The winter months bring different bird species to the area, making it an ideal time for birdwatching.

Mrytle Beach, SC – Winter Beach Town:

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, may be known for its bustling summer atmosphere, but it also has its own charm during the winter months. Here are some things you can enjoy in Myrtle Beach in winter:

Golfing:

Myrtle Beach is known as the “Golf Capital of the World.” Take advantage of the mild winter weather to enjoy a round of golf on one of the many championship courses.

Live Entertainment:

Check out the local theaters and entertainment venues. Many continue to host shows, concerts, and events throughout the winter season.

Shopping:

Explore shopping centers like Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing. Winter sales and fewer crowds make it a great time for shopping.

Museums and Attractions:

Visit local museums, such as the Ripley’s Aquarium or the Hollywood Wax Museum. These indoor attractions provide a break from the chilly weather.

Winter Events and Festivals:

Check for winter events and festivals happening in Myrtle Beach. The city often hosts holiday celebrations, parades, and other seasonal activities.

Going South in the Winter can be a nice escape from the frigid NorthEast, while still maintaining a more cooler temperature for outdoor activities. Getting there, you’ll be comfortable with a nice and warm RV, with plenty of space to stow your fishing, golf, or other gear. Start your winter adventure with GoRVenture!
